Ajwa Dates Help Control and Prevent Diabetes

Diabetes is a growing concern throughout the world today. When an individual has diabetes it means they are unable to produce enough insulin, or none at all. This means that the body is unable to tell when it should use sugar from the blood for energy. When blood sugar levels are then too high, ingesting soluble fiber is a good way to decrease them. Another complication with diabetes is obesity. Unfortunately most diabetics have insulin resistance, and it is that insulin resistance that causes extra fat storage and obesity.

Thankfully there are things that diabetics can do to combat the disease and its effects. Eating Ajwa dates is one of those things, and it is an especially good thing because these tasty fruit dates make great snacks and additions to meals.

These fruit dates are not only sweet and delicious, but they provide a generous amount of soluble fiber which can help not only diabetics but also those with a risk of diabetes. Soluble fiber is one way to help lower the blood sugar level in the body because its carbohydrates are not completely broken down by the body, although it takes energy to eat and digest the rest of the fruit.

Ajwa dates are considered to have a low glycemic index, which means that the body breaks down their complex carbohydrates slower. This ensures that the blood sugar levels do not rise dramatically all at once (something that happens when an individual eats something high on the glycemic index, when the sugars are broken down rapidly and enter the bloodstream too quickly). Diabetics must take care to eat foods with a low glycemic index to avoid those dangerous spikes in blood sugar levels.

The first heart attack in Islamic history was reported about the hero of the war of Qudsia Hazrat Saad bin Abi Waqas, a sudden pain in his heart was reported, when Hazrat Mohammed. (may peace be upon him) got to know about it, HE (peace be upon him) said ask him to eat Ajwa Date along with the seed and he will be fine. Hazrat Saad bin Abi Waqas ate the Ajwa with seed and he recovered from the heart attack.

According to health experts, Ajwa dates contain many flavonoid glycosides, which have anti-oxidant properties. Beyond the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, the sugar in Ajwa dates is only monosaccharaides, making the date beneficial for people who suffer from Type 2 diabetes.
