Next time you go for lab testing, test your blood sugar with ACCUCHECK also simultaneously. You can establish the variance after comparing the results.

Fairly accurate +/-- 10 in my case.

I recently bought an Accu-chek to supplement the One Touch that I was already using.

I found that the readings on Acc-chek are much higher than those on One Touch. To make matters worse, these readings are not even consistently higher by a fixed percentage.

To give an example. On 15/3/14, my FBS readings on Accu-chek & One Touch were 132 and 122 resp. But, on 16/3/14, my FBS readings on Accu-chek and One Touch were 152 and 122 resp. Soooo, on one day the difference was 7.5/8 % and on the next the difference was 20/24%. Both days the readings on the different instruments were taken within a minute or less of each other.

However, I know that my BS is high in the morning, whether it is 122 or 152. And, I have taken action to try and bring down the BS to more reasonable levels by taking Metformin 500 mg sr. Lets see how things go. Cheers !!

I think Accu-check can be calibrted by test strips, which are available in the market easily.
