If I remember correctly, it was in the news recently that a Central Research Institute was developing cheaper blood sugar test strips, which would cost only Rs.3 per strip and it would be available in the market around 30th of October. Unfortunately thereafter there was no news about that. Did somebody read about that? Many of the diabetics should be waiting for that as currently the multi national companies make a killing on the item. Only imported strips are now available. Is it a very high technology item, which cannot be made in India? Why Chinese made strips are not avaiable as they replicate even very high techonology items? I also feel that it is high time that all the diabetics in India formed an association to lobby and wrest our rightful things from the Government as mainly these are all elderly people.

"Thyrocare" gives the Glucometer for INR (Rs.) 1000 odd. The strips- 25 nos- cost Rs. 250/- and come with 25 needles too, albeit un-necessary.

In Belgaum, Karnataka, India, they are delivered home personally.
