Porridge ( plain) is always good , serve it with some fresh fruit if you like.

Lowers cholesterol as well.

My husbands blood pressure 6 months ago was 200/140 it's now 109/80 he has managed this by a good reduction in alcohol intake ( he never drank a lot to start with) drastic decrease in salt intake, crisp salted nuts etc, and an increas in exercise. He has also lost over a stone in weight, he is not diabetic but is a coeliac so we cook most things from scratch and can watch our salt intake, he also has 2oz of portidge with a sliced banana for breakfast. I have 2 oz of porridge with no banana but a bit of powered sweetener as I am diabetic. I take the sweetener sachets from Costa and use one of those each morning, hope this helps

Oh and buy a jumbo oat or good organic as the oats are bigger so take longer to break down in your stomach doesn't seem to spike my sugars as much. Tesco organic is £1.59 for a bag and last a few weeks, hubby has his own gluten free stuff.........

How about breakfast bars?  I eat them every morning and they tend to help with the blood sugars.  They come in three boxes at a time if you shop at a place like Sam's Club.  Good price, too!
