Guduchi (Indian Tinospora/Tinospora cordifolia)
There have been unsubstantiated claims of Guduchi being beneficial in controlling hyperglycemia. Generally people go for multiple inputs and often reducing carbohydrates may be the real reason for success. [If I had taken this or any other input, credit for reducing my A1C from 11.6% to 6.0% would have gone to it. Previously, Karela/Jamun, cinnamon gave me no benefit]
I found cautionary message from a web site that I paste hereunder:
Clinical trials to support dosing are limited, with 300 mg of a standardized aqueous tinospora stem extract taken 3 times daily for up to 6 months.
An in vitro study found an increase in prostate cancer cells; therefore, tinospora probably should not be consumed in this condition until further studies are conducted.
