I'm surprised no one has responded with any convincing data either way. I believe type 1 is incurable but for type 2: I've not seen anything authoritative but have heard anecdotal evidence of people losing enough weight for the insulin key to start working again. I don't honestly know if this is from early days or from much later or how acute the condition was at the time. I think about my own progress through control by diet to low dose Metformin then max dose Metformin . . .I don't suppose I'm alone in finding it's not so much the Diabetes but issues around it. For that reason I don't talk to colleagues about it. Luckily I haven't had a hyper or hypo so feel reasonably well controlled. It's other things that interfere with life at the moment! I hope you get the info you want. Have you tried NHS choices website or diabetes uk? Actually, for that question I haven't but it's fairly comprehensive. I wish you well.

I was diagnosed Type 2 two years ago. Bp of 189/87, blood was 79. After 6 months I was put on metphorin (I think that's what it was), but with diet change, after 5 months I was taken off it. I was put on 10mg of Lisiniprole for BP .

Now, I am 6 stone lighter, BP of 134/72, medication now at 5mg, (but getting reduced next week to 2.5mg). And my blood it 36.

By using Splenda and a low fat diet, I have changed my life.

I still drink, but virtually no wine, but gin and low cal tonic, with salted popcorn. I don't feel deprived, just pleased with my self!

2 stone to go...

Many thanks. Fortunately my blood pressure is normal. What came to notice for the first time in life at the age of 44, a fortnight ago that blood sugar levels, fasting and PP were alarmingly high. I have had no other symptoms except that I was consuming more water and lost about 15-17 kg. in about 4 years. Soon after learning, I have completely stopped sugar in direct form, started brisk morning walk of 35 minutes, no fried food, stopped eating rice, potato or other such foods. I am taking herbal medicines for control of blood sugar. Yet to check the current levels. Please keep on updating me for any thing new. Thanks again.

Thanks friend for an encouraging reply. Please keep on updating as and when you can about new information, treatment options and even any radical treatment to root it out all together. I am searching for more information on stem cell treatment and also genetic treatments being evolved in this direction. God bless.

Hi . I have just been diagnosed with type2 diabetes last week . I had gestational diabetes 20years ago and was advised I could develop it in later life, and here it is. I have spent the whole week searching the internet upside down and inside out looking for natural remedies .I am currently awaiting a diet from my dietician . After looking at the website you suggested I think I will order the book and give it a go. Nothing to lose. Thanks again.

TO CONTROL DIABETES EFFECTIVELY 1-TAKE THE RIGHT DIET- EAT MORE OF PROTEINS AND VITAMINS RICH FOOD (75%) AND CARBOHYDRATES NOT MORE THAN 25% AND IN THEIR RIGHT PROPORTIONS. 2-DO NOT FORGET YOUR MEDICATION AS PRESCRIBED BY YOUR DOCTOR 3- EXERCISE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN TO KEEP FIT AND BURN OFF THE EXCESS CALORIES. THIS WILL NOT ONLY HELP CONTROL DIABETES ONLY BUT ALSO HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. YOU MAY USE THOSE MUCH TALKED ABOUT FOOD SUPPLEMENTS BUT I WOULD ADVISE YOU NEVER TO GET OFF YOUR MEDICATIONS UNLESS YOU HAVE PROVED THEM BEYOND DOUBTS OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. AFTER ALL WHEN YOU GO INTO COMMA AND MAY BE PERHAPS DIE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE TESTIMONY THAT MAY SAVE OTHERS FROM MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE. THAT IS MY VIEW AND ADVISE THROUGH EXPERIENCE AND ADVISE FROM MY DOCTOR PROFESSOR OTIM M.
