Trying to avoid the sugar crash and ween myself off it…

1st I swapped ordinary sugar for Demerara sugar (not brown sugar).

And moved to honey and/ or dates as sweetener wherever I could.

Trying to stop having sugar makes you have severe sugar cravings, (my body craves sugar 24hrs after I eat something sweet because it naturally produces insulin at that time, expecting the sugar high).

So it was best to ween myself off with alternatives. Slowly.

Unless you’re super human and have extremely impressive resistance. Lol! This was my way.

I also tried to avoid desserts (replacing them with dates) and eating more of the healthy stuff. Having more water helps fill your tummy a bit and flush out excess …well… anything!

1/3 food, 1/3 water, 1/3 empty. And it does wonders!

(Thanks be to Allah for sending the advice and knowledge, Ameen).

hello Sarah’s …… this works for me….. I use granulated sweetener…… but I don’t worry about diet, I eat biscuits, chocolate, sweets/candy…..in fact everything that you are advised not to eat….. and I take Metformin tablets, Novorapid insulin, and Levermir insulin.

I have had type 2 Diabetes for over 20 years, and I’m 80 years of age now.
