Pain & sedation dentistry

Hi All,

I live in Edmonton with my family. We are having a tough time due to COVID. I'm experiencing dental infection for the last few weeks. I don't know why all these affect me during this time. I have dentophobia since childhood. Even the thought of a dental clinic makes me stressed and anxious. My parents had tried their level best to take me to a dentist. But everything was in vain. My entire health got affected by that.

I think my infection is getting worse with time. Even I tried some of the home remedies and nothing shows the result. While having a conference call with my friends, they suggested consulting a sedation dentist[rootsonwhytedental.com/serv...]. I guess I need to contact one soon. I'm relieved that there is no fear of pain. Has anyone undergone sedation dentistry? Share your experience.

Thanks!

Good luck. It is a horrible situation to be in.

I can assure you that your pain you are in with your tooth infection is much much greater than any pain you can possibly get from the dentist. And I am sorry if this is direct and scary but I hope the fear that the infection can spread to your head and brain will drive you into action quickly.

During lockdown I could only get a phone appointment in the UK for my infection 3 weeks ago. Dentist prescribed some strong strong antibiotics that gave me awful headaches and nausea and I was in bed through the whole 5 day course.

A year ago in visited the dentist for an infection and I was completely well within 6 hours. The dentist was very calm and soothing despite my general distress. You can call the receptionist of a local dentist, explain your situation and ask if they can recommend someone and/or point you to some material that helps you deal with your fear quickly.

Again good luck. And I hope you deal with it quickly.
