Last day I got an electric shock from my hairdryer. In that, my face struck the wall and front teeth got broken. I had immense bleeding followed by vomiting. My husband took me to an emergency dental clinic in Toronto( emergency-dental-365.com/). They opted for root canal therapy followed by a dental crown. The whole treatment process lasted for a few months. I had to go through a lot of pain. But even after all this, I'm unable to get down from that fear. I doubt whether my teeth broke again if I chew something hard.
This fear made me compromise on some of my favorite foods. Is there anyone who has the same problem with teeth? How you guys cope up with it? Is it hard? Even though the doc said the crown is strong enough, still I doubt. Is it safe to eat hard food items using the crown? Share your experience.
Thanks!

It depends on the location of the crown and the material the crown is made of. Anterior crowns tend to be more cosmetic and made of porcelain, these can fracture more easily and are not as strong as an integral tooth. Posterior crowns are typically made of strong materials such as full zirconia which can take strong forces. I would recommend finding out more information from your dentist to know what type of crown you have.
We should all, however, whether using our natural teeth or any crown work , be cautious in what we choose to bite. Chewing ice or opening nuts with our teeth are straining and can cause damage. As we age, our teeth can lose enamel and develop micro cracks and become more prone to fractures so it best to be safe and not overdo it!
