Has anyone had any experience of root planning. ? Has been recommended by gum specialist. .? I have no symptoms apart from a loose crown which is thought to be due to gum disease and occasional gum infections.

I had root planning a couple of weeks ago because the dentist found gum disease including a 4mm pocket at the back of my mouth. If you have gum disease I would get it done asap because you do not want that to get worse. It wasn't that much fun ... but not too bad! Gum disease can be silent for a long time. so it's important not to avoid getting it treated. You need to get that tartar and periodontal bacteria out of your mouth ... you cannot do that with home care alone.
