Does anyone have experience with using Be... - Cure Parkinson's
Does anyone have experience with using Benadryl to treat Parkinson's?
none here.
I have taken Benadryl for other reasons. Didn't do anything for, good or bad, for PD!
It should help, right? I tried it a few nights as a sleeping pill and I felt worse, don't know if it was the benedryl or not?
Isn't Benedryl an allergy and anti itch preperation. I'm not sure how this can help PD. Has someone recommended it to you?
Tried it for the tremor but didn't help!!!!
It used to be used for dystonia. I have found it useful on occasion, but my neuro discouraged me from using it on a regular basis for sleep. Apparently it contributes to dementia in older people (i'm 72) but that would not keep me from using it for an allergy like condition on occasion.
For some, like myself, benadryl can have the opposite effect, makes me hyper and cannot sleep, raises blood pressure and heart rate, though I have used it for allergic reactions.
If combined with tylenol of pseudephedrine (as with some cold meds) it cannot be used with Azilect.
I have been taking baby Benadryl for the past week...it works for me! Unfortunately I just read it may cause dementia...no thank you!
a half of one a night helps me to sleep from 9:00 pm until 3:30 a night approx....
Recien uso benadril para dormir y por accidente descubri que alivia mis temblores, aunque no asi la rigidez.

I works for against my tremors.
I do not think we Parkies experience tremors while asleep. One day I intend to try non-habit forming sleeping pills for my awake time... Also intend to try a pressure sleeve. Pressure around the arm may reduce tremors.
Just an experiment, not a recommendation.
I take a 10mg Phenergan tablet if I have had a spell of not sleeping. It probably works psychologically, but it works for me!
I do. I've using benadryl 50 to sleep and next day I feel better. After wake up I feel some better to walk, no tremor no stiffness at all. I wake up by 7 am and use the sinemet by 11am. After a while of taking my med. tremors start and takes about an hour to feel fine. When I don't take benadryl at night the next day I cant walk at all, stiffness returns and tremor are back until I use the med (levo-dopa 50/200. I ve been a PD patient 15 years. And thanks God seem that I don't suffer like many others with less time suffering. Im 64 yrs old. Also I sometimes take a bit of red pepper or salt with my med. Once I read that salt helps mio electrical conductivity in brain cell and also increase the blood pressure, so the med gets up faster. Just my habit. I'm been looking for symptoms relieve all around.
