Shasha - I do not have PD however I have found that the treadmill is high impact exercise on your joints where the Stationary Bike is low inpact on your joints - I'm just trying to find out things that work for a very special person in my life that has this horrible condition - I want to support this special person any way I can to make life easier if that is possible - so I figure I can learn a lot form this site, and maybe make a difference for this person and maybe help others by posting things that I read on other sites or in talking with medical folks. If I could fix PD I would , hopefully someone much smarter than I will some day. God Bless you all that have this condition.

There is scientific proof that pedaling using the proper protocols reduces PD symptoms an average of 35%. See pedalingforparkinsons.org and google Dr. Jay Alberts at the Cleveland Clinic for more information on his work. There is no indication that a treadmill will help and, as pointed out above, it is stressful on the joints.

I have a gazelle, it works arms & legs together, good to keep limber and some strength increase. It is the only fitness equipment I have kept and used for a number of years. I tried all the others and made them into clothes hangers before giving away. I thing you can find it in line gazelle.com

I have PD and have had it for 13 years. I was told that riding a bike is very helpful, and I bought the large 3 wheeler with a battery motor, so if I do cramp or get tired, I just push on the hand grip and off I go............ it is fabulous.

My husband prefers riding his stationary bike. I think it’s safer for him than a treadmill, as he could easily fall on a treadmill.
