Hi, I gained over 40 pounds while on Paxil for depression. I stopped gaining when I quit the anti-depressant. Now the task of trying to lose the weight!
O, yes! Over a five month period, I gained over 70 pounds that is not going away. When the weight gain started, I was 155 pounds on my 5'4" frame, and now I am 230 (down from 235). At the time the precipitous gain began, I was taking Mirapex, and Depakote plus Zoloft for Bipolar.
At the top weight, I went to an endocrinologist, who suspected Cushing's, an overabundance of cortisol the stress hormone. What? Stress with PD, Bipolar, and significant life stresses? The tests she conducted were thorough, and she was certain it was the combination of meds I was taking.
My PD meds have changed to lower doses of Mirapex, adding Azilect (a miracle in my experience), and the addition of Benadryl to help me get more than five hours of sleep at night. I have joined a Fitness Center, and I can tell that there is muscle down there somewhere, but the only reason I can tell is that I hurt oll over!
Join the Club. A lot of us experience this problem and once it settles it is not easy to lose. I am on Stalevo and think this is part of the problem. But have no idea how I am going to lose it. Sorry.

I'm answering this on behalf of my husband who has Parkinson's and I'm his wife of 42 years, as well as his caregiver. My husband has lost 30-40 pounds over the last 4 years, and he was "actually diagnosed with Parkinson's and put on meds in 2009. I try to make sure and prepare meals for him that are not only easier for him to eat, because of tremors, but he has swallowing issues too. His appetite is pretty good; but not as good as before he was put on meds in 2009. He seems to have gained a little weight in the last 3 or 4 months, maybe 5 pounds, because I've been forcing the issue with him to eat, and sort of monitoring him to make sure he is eating enough. I also try to keep on hand snack items I know he likes, like bananas, ha!
Forgot to mention my husbands age, he is 67.
My hubby has also gained weight only 6lbs at the moment over a period of three months since starting C0-careldopa we have been smaller portions for longer and seem to be getting nowhere now.
What medicine are you on
Does requip cause weight gain bcuz I have gained 30lbs since last march 2016. I have never been a big eater so staying between 125-130lbs is normal, but since being on this medication due to having CIDP and rls , I have been on it daily 1x a day. I have been through tests after test and no reason for this weight gain. Usually eat only once a day and I have been this way all my life. This is the only medication that I am still on, other than vitamins. I look like I eat really good lol . Please help
