Does anyone know the difference between Z... - Cure Parkinson's
Does anyone know the difference between Zandopa and the mucana bean?
Took mucuna pruriens..its mdian herb form of levdopa.. Not much difference, no side effects.
My belief is that rrplacing levdopa makes your body lazy in producing it. Better to lower stress, veggie diet and gentle balancing exercise like qi gong and yoga.
I have refused all pharmeceutical drugs as i think they are dangerous for sn over loaded nervous system. Pesonal opinion not medical..i e had it for 5 years but learning every day! Still only shaky fingers in one hand sometimes and stiffer snkle ..other minor symptoms all friends have st my age..66.
I'm trying to keep away from prescription drugs too. What is the name brand you take of the mucana bean? Where do you order it? How much do you take and how often?
Someone said that Zandopa was not the whole mucuna bean, but just the extracted levdopa, and that it was better to take the whole mucuna bean because it contained NADH and other things for the brain. I also read where you need to take something with levdopa too get it to the brain. Do you know anything about this? Do you take anything else along with it?
As you can see I'm confused! I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
Swansons supplements ..cant remember where...maybe amazon. I googled it. I just took the recommended amount on the bottle. Then if i felt i needed it topped up with dopamine by eating broad beans or avocadoes!
At present I have stopped ..instead trying to keep calm! And give the body a chance to procuce the dopamine and make it work dffectively by good diet and exercise. We will see! Good luck.
Zandopa is made by a pharmaceutical company in India, so is standardised. I have loads of it that I'm not sure I'll take - you can have some next time you're in Brighton.

Swallowing Mucuna (not an answer to the question!)
My partner has tried Mucuna and did not notice any improvements. I have read that it works much better when taken with another herb, Tribulus terrestris, though in my partner's case it didn't seem to make any difference. (I guess it either works for you, or it doesn't.)
One possibly useful comment -- Mucuna is scratchy and can be hard to swallow, but we found that mixing with a little aloe vera (from Waitrose) before adding to warm milk (as advised) helps it go down.

Thanks.
I saw an ayurvedic practitioner who gave me mucuna and tribulus terrestris for about 6 months (before I started any meds). It did nothing at all. Not sure why, I trusted her as she is a friend as has a very good reputation, but maybe what she gave me wasn't strong enough.
Yes, this seems to be a trusted ayurvedic remedy for PD symptoms - but everyone's PD seems to be slightly different from everyone else's. Thanks for emailing about this - I may give up on it now!
