Well it finally happened, I proposed to my lady after 7 years together, on and off. So now it is off period as you over the pond would say. I must say I'm not surprised she is one of those people that "don't do illness", I wish I could walk away from it to, I really do.
I have not seen her for a few days she went to the para Olympics, so although I new it would happen as the sun goes down I'm feeling completely drained you will more than likely hear from me again this night.
So this is for all you good people who have stood by or even taken us lost souls on, thank you I salute your courage and your compassion and your all round good eggishness.
Belay the first paragraph me hearties, I have just had a communication from the lady of whom I spoke, delaying tactics I shouldn't wonder.

I'm sorry her feelings for you aren't strong enough to overcome her fears. You deserve someone who loves you. Being a caregiver for my husband is not easy and not what I expected when we took our vows 42 years ago. I could say I don't do illness and walk away but that is not how I do things. Good luck to you!
For several years towards the end of the last century I worked for a Scottish council, and was on the Disability Awareness Training team. What I found was that the people who did not understand disability were scared of it, and were the ones who ran away from it. Remember, under the umbrella definition of disability it is any natural action by the Human body which cannot be performed without assistance is a disability. By default that includes wearing spectacles. But how many people do you know who describe their poor sight as a disability?
