Precious44 here, I have trouble with my Achilles heel, it gets real tight and hurts to walk. Has anyone else had this problem? I look forward to your answers. Oh and someone was talking about getting the sweats. I have never had the sweats like I have now, it drips off my face and neck. You say it is a side effect of one of the medicines, could you please tell me which one.
Thank you for all your help, you are a great bunch. I am so glad I found this site last week. I appreciate the kind words, the information and the support I have found here. I hope I can be of some help to some. Like they say Pay it forward.
God Bless

Precious are you describing stiff ankles? Does it improve with medication? I had this as an early symptom before I began treatment. Now it is worse in the morning but gone with medication.
As to sweating - Have you looked at the medication leaflets because I think a number of meds can cause this but the PD condition can as well. I get it not as a medication side effect but when my meds have worn off and I need another dose!
Yes, I had this for about 6 months, getting progressively worse, usually after my morning 3 - mile shuffle with the dog. I thought I was going to have to give up the walks, then my GP said change my walking boots and my everyday shoes. That was about a year ago, and it worked for me
thank for your suggestion, just one problem 99% of the time I don't wear shoes. It was real bad about 2 weeks ago, then it went away. Now it has comeback but not as bad, at least so far. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
Hi, it sounds like contracted muscle or dystonia. Which I have in my calves. I think it may be due to meds. I am having mine looked at right now as I am not fully controlled. I had this problem with Sinemet standard and CR and again with Stavelo it is quite bad for me.
Re sweats I have to change my bedding in the night as I sweat due to wear off. I seem to have a sweaty neck! Again the meds.
Hi Precious44 - I too have problems with my right Achillies Tendon - a very sharp pain which comes and goes. Massage helps I find
Sweating too is something I experience when I get very stressed - particularly when I am walking the dog and we meet a group of non Pd people I know and who want to stop and chat - I have gone from being someone who adored being the centre of attention to one who shuns it like the plague
I'm on sinemet, sinemet CR, xanax and clonopin, and I never sweat. My first symptom was a frozen left ankle and the sinemet fixed it, but I still have tendonitis in left leg groin area. Good luck.
My achilles plays up after night's sleep which I put down to sleeping position. Physio told me to do heel drops where you rest on edge of step and lower heel below step then go up on toes. Alternatively stand feet apart, keeping heels on floor, bend knees forward until you feel stretch....
Lewtur and etterus gave good advice. You may want to do gastroc and soleus stretch (calf stretch) too, to stretch your soleus & gastroc muscles, the tendons of which form the Achilles tendon.
Thank you all for your responses. I am going to a new neurologist tomorrow as my meds are not holding me. I will ask him about my ankles and possible about the sweating, because I have never, ever sweat like this. Sometimes it drips off of me. Off my forehead and off my neck, I can't leave my hair down because of the sweaty neck. So everyday it's in a pony tail, which looks really cute on a 15 year old but I'm not so sure about a 68 year old.
