can sinemet cause a rash have a lot lately ichy and red on face
Hi ftadh, yes I believe one of the side effects of sinemet can cause an itchy rash, or worse swelling, either way I would contact your surgery and get some advise about this xx
I also have this problem,with me its red itchy patches,dry skin around the nose,mouth and eye area,have tried cortisone cream but even this isnt having much effect.
I think it's maybe also one of the symptoms of parkinsons as we;; . Very difficult to keep on top of .
I have found cleansing and moisturisin more regularly helps .
The most helpful cream we have found is Sudacreme .
Could also try using head and shoulders shampoo once a week , helps get rid of scaly eyebrows and head
I saw a dermatologist and he looked at all my medications and one is sinemet plus stalevo and he said he didi't see anything that would be causing my dry, itching red patches on my face. Plus I have it on one arm and my shoulders! They did a biopsy on my arm and we are waiting on the results of that right now. I have other symptoms also like my finger nails pulling away from the nail beds etc..he said that the biopsy will show if it's an allergy, bacterial infection, or lupus! I will let you know when I find out.

The patient information sheet that usually accompanies a box of tablets / capsules suggest that a rash is a possible side effect and that you should consult your doctor immediately if you develop a rash.
There seems to be quite a lot of info on the web including one report that suggested the rash was a reaction to yellow colouring in the Sinemet capsule.

Are you sure it's not seborrheic dermatitus? does it feel waxy? I've een struggling with for nearly a year and have only had relief from the antifungals.

Ciclopirox is found in prescription shampoos and skin products. It may cause irritation, itching and burning in a small number of people.
Terbinafine (Lamisil) is sometimes prescribed in tablet form to treat severe episodes, but studies of its effectiveness are limited. Most doctors are cautious about prescribing oral antifungal agents for seborrheic dermatitis because these drugs can have serious side effects, and seborrheic dermatitis tends to be a chronic condition. Side effects of terbinafine include severe allergic reactions and liver problems.

There are skin changes associated with Parkinson's disease. It is an intriguing point because we really don't know why. People can get a ruddy red rash on their face or their scalp or even other body parts. They may have a sense of increased oiliness on their face as well.
I don't have dandruff. And I don't have oily hair or skin! It starts out as a red raised rash that itches then dries up and cracks and drys and then goes through the same cycle! What the doctor gave me is a steroid Creme and special cleansing bar and moisturizer to use until we get the biopsy results! It cleared it right up! Thank you for all your information! I don't have a rash but I have noticed that I suddenly have acne problems and I'm in my 40's now....like being a teenager again. It's a pain but manageable.
