is it time for an alarm clock?
I'd like to know, is it important to take... - Cure Parkinson's
I'd like to know, is it important to take meds at same time every day? I've been on them for yrs, but find I'm forgetting,
Nene1,
YESSSSS! It is very important to take your meds at the same time every day or you will experience "on and off" symptoms more frequently. I am fairly new at this having been diagnosed almost a year ago, and I learned that very quickly. I have 8 dosing times daily, and it was getting so confusing and easy to forget when I should take my meds and which ones. I now keep track of when I should take my meds by putting an alarm (8 alarms) on my cell phone. Sometimes I don't even need the alarms because my body tells me it is time for my medication; but on good days, the cell phone alarm feature is my little reminder. Annoying that my phone goes off all the time; but it is my friend, and I have to remind myself of that.
Good luck to you,
Cheri
THere have been times I am so into what I am doing that I forget and miss my pill time. This causes me to have a dystonia episode which isn't very pleasant. I would advise taking them on time for that reason and also so that you can keep a better record of your pill taking to bring to your doctor visits.
I do the same with my cell phone. Every 4 hours. Works well for me. ~~Dennis
Most definitely. I have to co-ordinate medication for three different problems - PD, obviously, a renegade disc that is just resting against the spinal cord in my neck (thanks to a blonde who was insured by Sheila's Wheels), then there is the residue of nerve and muscle failure when I had my bowel cancer 25years ago.
If I do not get up at 6 a.m. to start the round of medication, then the last one can be after midnight. Either that, or skip one, which for me is not an option.
Hope this helps.

I find that if I take my meds every 4-6 hours as directed, I do better. I usually take my first dose of the day between 7 and 9 am then every 4-6 hours. Having been on Senimet more than 15 years along with other PD meds, my wear off time usually occurs before it is time to take my pills.
Woodworks how much RU on? I take 100 25 sinimet noW it's every 3 hrs. I'm pretty uncomfortable all day. I try adding half a sinimet SA but unless I'm very active I get extreme dyskinesia.
I have used my cell phone as an alarm. My current phone's alarm doesn't work well and I don't always have it with me.
I seem to always take my pills late...so I guess since I'm constantly late, I'm on time?!?!
Also, am finding trying to take meds on an empty stomach and waiting 30 min afterwards to eat is difficult!
My husband has been on Sinemet plus x4 and the CR at bedtime . also Neuro patch .. Lately I have found that about an hour after he has taken it he drops off and his droolinmg is much worse. Isn't it all a minefield
