THANKFUL TO BE ALIVE

YESTERDAY I CELEBRATED MY 75TH BIRTHDAY. I HAVE SURVIVED BREAST CANCER FOR 2 YEARS, DIAGNOSED WITH PD LAST SEPTEMBER, FOUND A BRAIN TUMOR (NOT MALIGNANT) WIHICH I HAD GAMMA KNIFE SURGERY. ALSO HAVE FIBERMYALIGA, POLYMYALGA RHUMATALOGY. I EXCERCISE 3 TIMES A WEEK AT YWCA, DO PD EXCERICES AT HOME ALMOST DAILY. WALK WITH A CANE, TAKE PD MEDS, STILL DO WHAT I CAN AROUND HOUSE. CAN STILL TAKE CARE OF MYSELF AND LOVE LIFE AND GREATFUL FOR WHAT I CAN STILL DO. JUST WISH I HAD A SUPPORT GROUP TO GO TO. I AM SO HAPPY WITH ALL YOUR POSTS. THEY HELP SO MUCH!

I join the others in saying very very happy birthday. I also say a big "Thank you". Like you, I am 75 and have had a brain tumour, plus Parkinson's for eleven years. During the night, I woke with a big black dog on my shoulder.

When my big, awkward, heavy golden retriever jumps on my bed at night when I'm twisting, turning, or maybe acting a dream out, or talking in my sleep, and snuggles up and gives me kisses to feel better and shows me her unconditional love, life is good.(hubby sound asleep) Happens almost every night.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to you. I think exercise is important and always try to find good things in my day. It might be just our neighbourhood blackbird's song, or unusually here, a sunny day. To hear my grandaughters laughter or an unexpected call from a friend. Occasionally, being able to do something I couldn't manage the previous day. I have many things to be thankful for. On bad days I always try to think that things may be better tomorrow. Your PMA is an inspiration.

GOod for you. Can't you start a support group from the exercise class. I'm sure there's at least 3 of you who need to talk about stuff. Is there a social worker at the Y? Good luck to you. I'm in classes with pwp's and we form a kind of support group, plus there is a support group but I'm not in it. Also one for caregivers.

Some "healthy" people could do with an hour in your company. They wouldn't moan everytime they feel "off colour".

Had to have another MRI of brain this morning. PRAYING TUMOR HAS gone AWAY. Will let you all know as soon as I do. Drove 45 miles one way to see my 81 year old friend who fell Sun. and broke her femur. Doing pretty good but lots of pain and 6 -8 weeks PT. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND EVERYONE!
