For most people it takes a concerted effort to drink enough fluids,(excluding coffee and caffienated drinks), to stay hydrated. Most carry a bottle of water with them. If I become dehydrated it gives me cramps in the lower legs, but different people have different reactions. PWP are allowed to have a small amount of salt daily because it causes water retention.

Stay wet and have a good day.

Yes drink plenty of water at least 2ltres a day is recommended (water is the best) pwp also can perspire a lot in some cases, when involuntary movements occur etc. this all needs replacing, Also medication can cause constipation and drinking a 2litres of water is recommended , just my little bit of knowledge as a psychi - nurse.

My husband is fully aware when he starts to dehydrate. He drinks 12 oz of water every time he takes his meds and at meals. He also carries water with him when we go out of the house. He has learned by experience how important it is.

He also ha sorthostatic hypotension and it is much worse when he is dehydrated. He will get dizzy and lightheaded and he goes down becaise his B/P drops to under 80/50.

Keeping up with the fluids is good for the body. Just remember you also have to pee it out. and By that your body looses a lot of potassium. Being dehydrated could also be a potassium deficiency. It is very improtant to also eat potassium rich foods as well as drinking the fluids. Bananas are OK you have to eat several a day to get what you need. Prunes are good and helpful in other areas as well. I drink Cococnut water, that has a lot of potassium in it. You just have to find the kind and flavor you like. There are juices on the market that are good too. Good luck.

I have trouble convincing Mom that she must drink enough. She barely sips water when taking meds. "I go too much!" she always says. Thanks for the information everyone. I'll let her know what you've said.
