I'm on the max. dosage of Requip 24 mg how tough is it being weaned off of it?
To nothing? For me very hard, but well worth it.
Then I began other meds that help been better for me.
I would hope to nothing but I just had very successful DBS (deep brain stimulator) surgery, went from 900mg Stalevo a day to 400mg a day. nobody has said anything about reducing requip yet but I'm hoping to reduce it by @ least half. Thank you for your input.
You really have to be careful with the requip. You can't go cold turkey because it can cause your heart to flip out, your mind to go crazy, depression. Tired, no energy. At that dosage it might take several months. WHat's wrong? I had a really hard time taking Requip 3x a days. The ups and downs were horrible. I was changed to Requip XL 1 a day. I was Ok at 12mg but when I went to 16mg, BAD, BAD, BAD. My stomach couldn't handle it. I have been taking 8mgs 2x aday and that works out pretty well. Maybe you could back off the dosage a little. I was on 12mg of REQUIP XL and talked with my doc about reducing dose---I went too fast however I foolishly cut my dose to 6 mg---wasn't long and I was having severe foot cramps nightly so increased dose to 8mg and it seems to have helped. Guess I will stick with it---anything is better than those foot cramps. gail
I am on 6mg of Requip daily. Have lately started with cramps etc in my legs and am wondering if this could be due to Requip? Otherwise have not had any problems like depression or gambling.
I am on 18mgs. of REquipXL (3- 6mg) per day and I do not notice anything......
same as when i took one a day or two a day.............
I don't seem to react to any med , I take t hem as I am told.....and function as well as I can.
It will not be easy, I was on 12 mg a day plus a few other meds, my Doc had me stay in the hospitial. I was glad because I couldn't have done it at home!
I may have been on a low dose. I took myself off and could not move. My neuro scolded me but started me on sinemet. Any change has unforeseen side effects! Wish I had kept a log.
