The prospect of finding a cure for Parkinson’s in the near future is bleak and disheartening. But with just a tweek in our expectations we can have remission as a more attainable goal.
Given the choice I will take remission. In fact one of the reasons I like my sessions with Dr. Mischley is that she chooses to look at Parkinson’s as a dopamine deficiency not unlike the lack of insulin for diabetes patients.
For some reason, that is less scary to me. Even though we can’t find a cure for Parkinson’s the idea that we can manage the disease gives me some control over my destiny.
I also think it alleviates some of the stress caused by my lack of control and therefore reduces my overall anxiety. It is also a great motivator to stay in the program. We all need reasons to stay positive to avoid succumbing to despair

You expressed that very well. Each of us needs to know what affects us most and then deal with it and we need to understand what works for us as individuals with many stress risers and calming tools peculiar to you. "Its not easy being green" said Kermit the Frog. The Parkinson's mask , the hunchback, the tongue that will not stay still, the uncontrolled motions and the visabil pain grimace . We might as well be green. There are so many things that l have to ignore to keep my eye on the goal and those things ignored, can also lead to a greenish feeling of lack of control and consciousness of what I must appear like to others and the uneasy feeling that I am unintentionally creating in them. I read it three times and I think that makes sense
Be Happy
enter the weird world of Gymsack an old man who still likes the work of Jim Henson ,
I am a private person and i hate to stand out ( particularly in a bad light). Parkinson has no mercy for my hangups. There’s a saying in Spanish roughly translated: “to those who don’t like soup God gives them 2 cups”. I have gotten more than 2 cups with Parkinson. I welcome green maybe it will help me blend.
