Hi! Wondered if anyone had any experience with using panax ginseng for improvement of symptoms?

Hi ghoegap, I'm really interested in Panax (Korean Red) ginseng. It doesn't seem like it's a widely used supplement here which is disappointing, since it's neuroprotective properties are very promising. I think the fact that it's kind of pricey might have something to do with that. Can get pretty expensive trying to slow down/prevent this disease.

Anyway, for those who might be interested, here's a recent paper on the effects of red ginseng on neuroinflammation in neurodegenerative disease. The section on PD is too long to post here, but well worth a read.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

"Red ginseng inhibits NF-κΒ activation of microglia and prevents α-synuclein formation and aggregation, thereby lowering cytokines levels. Moreover, Red ginseng exerts an anti-inflammatory effect by decreasing nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 levels, promoting dopamine release, and protecting dopaminergic neurons."

Yet more for the stack. I’ll probably find out *post mortem* that my precise combination of supplements at those precise timings are lethal. And nobody will ever know the cause. 🤣

I often wonder the same.

So there's gonna be a guy in scrubs standing at the pearly gates scrutinizing his clipboard, saying....."oh yeah, ginseng on the 22nd, that's what did ya in, pal?"

Don't have to worry about that happening here cause we never own up to exactly how much is in the stack! 😝

Thanks, GermanSheperd79, you made my day! I don't think of myself as funny, but this makes me want to try to make someone laugh (or at least smile) every day. 😘

God bless you Rufous2. My husband has PD. I’m caretaker which means I watch over him, trying to keep our spirits up, while my own heart breaks. This week my little sister was diagnosed with dementia with Lewys bodies. This is the other end of the PD spectrum, but related. You lifted my heart and made me laugh. Thank you so much.

i have taken Panax Ginseng on a regular basis for a long time, up until around December. I stopped taking it because I am trying a new diet and taking a break from supplements to see how it goes. My experience with Panax Ginseng has been all positive, no negatives. It is an adaptogen, so it corrects things that are out of balance either way, too high or too low. It certainly didnt do me any harm. I would recommend it to anyone for a trial. I would also recommend the standardized extract rather than whole plant because every plant is different, so you never know if youre getting a potent one or a weaker one. The BEST is the ones that come in the little liquid shooter bottles, but mostly I took it in capsule form. It is a well researched, well documented herbal tonic therapy, so it is easy to find data on it. Make sure its Korean Red Panax GInseng. Not Siberian Ginseng or American Ginseng, these are different plants altogether, and they have a different type of effect on the system. They are good for other things, which I will not get into here.

Thank you, Bass. Do you think the liquid form is less likely to be adulterated with cheaper ingredients?

No idea. The liquid form hits you faster though. Perhaps it has a little alcohol in it, not sure.
