CONCLUSION: Poor sleep quality, related to PD-specific nighttime problems, was found be associated with worsening constipation severity. Nursing activities that help PWP with PD-specific nighttime problems have a more comfortable night's sleep would be key to alleviating constipation severity.

This is an association, which does not demonstrate causation. No harm done in this case, but this kind of mistake has caused harm in other situations

“Overall, 94.9% of PWP had constipation symptoms. The percentages of PWP with poor sleep were as follows: PSQI, 74.7%;” This study suggests an association between poor sleep quality and worsening of constipation in individuals with PD. However, no causal relationship is established, and the association seems to be specific to PD patients. Additionally, improving sleep patterns may potentially benefit the overall health of PD patients, including symptom improvement. A similar association can be made with other symptoms such as urinary problems, libido issues, depression, weight loss, fatigue, and impaired sense of smell. It appears that this study primarily confirms the obvious, as improving constipation may enhance dopamine production and thereby impact also all PD symptoms.
