I did this test as part of the validation trial and, like the spinal fluid test, it is a binary, yes or no test. If they find the alpha - synuclein clumps in a sample, you "have Parkinson's". Again, like the CSF test they are working to make it more qualitative and also to detect other diseases.
The biopsy is not a BIG deal but it is not a ton of fun. They take 3 samples, back, thigh and calf I think. The samples are about the size of a pencil eraser but a bit deep. They numb up the sites first. Modest discomfort on the order of dental work. I have also had a spinal fluid draw and that is scarier but I had less (no) pain after with that. Could just be my experience.
