So. Coming up for 5 years post diagnosis, 31 January and the tax return marathon behind me, glorious sunshine following a huge dump of snow - it would have been rude not to go skiing with my chums.A bit apprehensively if truth be told, not least because my boots had rotted and I had to hire a pair. But it was fabulous. I took it a bit easy and stopped a bit before the others. I took a tumble on a steep section of a red run, but then the others all fell too.

Next week I'm taking sue, who had a partial knee replacement 6 months ago to try a skimojo recommended by property typhoon.

Celebrate life by doing what you like most. Doing it with friends and family is even better. Doing it every day is best. This is what soothes the soul and heals the body! :)

Way to go - it sounds like it was wonderful! It makes me want to dust off my skis!

Thanks to property typhoon for the skimojo suggestion. Mrs WTP was skiing happily with it 6 months after her knee replacement surgery today

Greetings;I think they should write prescriptions for skiing. Last week I skied on corduroy groomed snow.  My skis vibrated because I took turns across the corduroy three days in a row. I forgot to take my Sinemet in the afternoon.  I almost always feel it when the meds are wearing off and this time I didn’t . On the flight home in the airport, I was walking like a person without PD. My arms were swinging my pace was fast.I started thinking about it in the vibrations might be similar to the Tass vibration gloves. I need some estimation on what the vibrations would be. My first guess computations came out at 222 vibrations per second . Of course it’s a very rough estimate and I just guesstimate it the numbers but that’s damn close to task is gloves of 250 vibrations per second.I only skied in the morning for about 90 minutes which over half of that time is lift time.May be a vibration plate machine can be modify the vibrate at 250 Hz.

20 mph 1.6 km/mile

32 km/h 1000 m/km 32000 meters/hour

3600 sec/hr 8.89 meters/sec

 0.02 .02 m/groove 2 cm corduroy groove width

444 grooves/sec

444 Hertz ski perpendicular to corduroy

0 Hertz ski parallel to corduroy

222 Hertz average

250 Hertz Tass Glove frequency

There might well be something in that. I too was aware I felt PD free after skiing. Of course, partly that is living like a person and not a PD patient (at least for a day). But maybe its the vibrations. My comment to my wife was "I can relate to MJF playing ice hockey" Once I was skiing I became free and fluid in my movements

Bloody good fun, that's for sure

Enjoy, I have never skied. I prefer hiking and cycling.
