Along with Rytary I'm being offered acupuncture. i asked about the TCM--Traditional Chinese Method--as treatment. He put needles in my left hand, ear tips, and left leg. All in the liver meridian.

I have had acupuncture and i like it even though at the moment im doing Bowen therapy and find it excellent. My vet is an acupuncturist and treats my doggie, "Cinnamon" with the needles. He had back issues that were affecting his walk. He is like a pup now even though he is nearly 14...he is a very happy dog after acupuncture.😊

I am a fan of Bowen. My niece is a therapist and is very good, trouble is, she lives 3 hours drive away. Wonderful to hear about your dog. Will maybe try and find an acupuncturist near me.

Bowen is awesome. If you can try to see your niece. Maybe go and stay for a few days and get some sessions back to back. "Tissues have issues"is one of the ideas of Bowen. I often find stories buried in memory, or old emotions released there. With acupuncture, like with everything in life, do your shopping. Try a few and see whos best for you. Be well. ✨🙏✨

Did it help with the tremors?

No change but he warned me it can take several sessions before results.

Hi kaypeeoh. I am having acupuncture as well (2 sessions so far). Not doing this specifically for PD but it has helped me in the past with stress and back problems (I have recently suffered from the latter). I think it is a good and safe thing to experiment with from a holistic standpoint. I wish you well with your treatment.

I tried 2 sessions of acupuncture without any noticeable effect on my PD symptoms. Of course the acupuncturist said I would need more sessions to see any improvements, but being a pin cushion for half an hour was stressing me out so I stopped. But if it works for you, that's great.

I was trained in Veterinary acupuncture at the Colorado State U veterinary school. Regardless of the modality, 'Placebo effect' i s always in the back of my mind when I hear of great results. But animals don't suffer the placebo effect. So the improvements I saw in animal cases was real, not suggestive.

I'm convinced by its effectiveness if the acupuncturist makes a correct diagnosis. I tried it for some eye problems and my eyes felt improved even by the end of the session. They were still OK the day after and I've had little trouble since.

If you learn a little about the theory and where the acupoints are for the problems you have you can treat yourself between treatments with firm finger massage, I use it quite often.

I have received acupuncture about once a week for several years now. It calms my pain and temporarily relieves tremors. When I skip it for a month I experience significant declines in mobility and energy.

I had acupuncture for years until the pandemic hit and everything closed up for Covid -- about once ever 10 days or so. It took me a LONG time to find an acupuncturist I liked and who addressed my issues. She was very flexible and worked on whatever ailed me--digestion, dyskinesia, pain, help with sleep. When she opened up again and I had my two vaccines, I decided to go back. But she's moved her office so it's over 30 minutes each way and doubled her pricing. The distance was the deal killer--adding in the 45-60 minutes appointment, that's a lot of time out of the day plus sometimes after, I'd be tired to drive home.

Like I said, I've tried a lot of acupuncturists. I don't really like the Chinese method practitioners. I bruise easily and have thin skin and no fat on the back of my hands, and my left hand is weird from PD, so my hand would be sore and achy and bruised-feeling for days afterward. I went to one a few weeks ago for several visits--he is traditional Chinese acupuncturist--since he is literally 1.5 miles from my house and has a great reputation. But after about 6 or 7 visits, I wasn't feeling any improvement.

I have been in a lot of pain lately from tight muscles and would like to go back. I am searching for an acupuncturist trained in the US. For me this style acupuncture has been more effective. I would meditate for the 30-40 minutes with the needles inserted, so the whole experience is very relaxing for me. I realize everyones' experience varies. For me it's positive; I just need to find someone closer.

Does it ease dyskinesia?
