Playing Against Time

Did anyone in the UK watch this TV programme which follows the story of world renowned jazz saxophonist Barbara Thompson and her husband Jon Hiseman and the ups and downs of living with Parkinson’s. It was shown on BBC4 on Sunday 19th February.

I watched some of it but it was on at about 1.30 in the morning. It was tremendous. There were 2 programmes the second one was mostrly of her playing. She was outstanding !!!

So glad I watched it. She is an inspiration to us all. I know someone with exactly her symptoms. Barbara is one brave lady and it was amazing to see her playing.

The treatment seemed to really be helping and I wonder if it is generally available.Her husband also came across very well. All in all, a really worthwhile programme.

It was a truly inspirational programme.. Apart from being a brilliant instrumentalist, Barbara is obviously a very determined and courageous woman. As for Jon Hiseman, what a great partner.
