Get several hundred to change their user name? Like herding cats.

Annual updating could prove to be taxing and would fragment the persons posts with each new annual username.

Or, go to the person's profile.

No need to update ? year of dx not number of years !

The year of diagnosis can be misleading. Many people use the year symptoms first started and/or the year of official diagnosis. I waited two years before allowing an “ official “ diagnosis for insurance reasons. So my number could be 08, 09 or 10.

True indeed. Up until two years after diagnosis, I was still in denial about the accuracy of the diagnosis. Sounds like that's the sweet spot😇

Sounds like an effort to exclude people who don't measure up...litmus test...as well as then ranking peoples' worth, according to how long they have had a diagnosis. Passive-hostile.

At the exclusive, members-only golf club:

Judge Smails: You're a good golfer, what's your handicap, Ty?

Ty: Oh you know judge, I don't like to keep score.

Smails: Then how do you judge other golfers?

Ty (who is taller): By height.

Good idea 😉. I tried to "update profile" but I couldn't find a place to change my username?

Personally think it is a good idea. Laurie Mischley data analysis shows correlation between symptom severity and years since dx with wide variation which can be caused by for example whether you exercise or not. SGlass17

SGlass, you made a comment about Dr Mischley, did you take the 25 classes she had online in 2020?

This is not the only forum on Health Unlocked so how is that going to work for those in more than one forum?

Could be a slippery slope. Then others may want to know our age, then our weight, then mg/day C/L, then our BMI, then # we've been married, so my name eventually looks like; MBAnderson11/74/182/300/23.5/2 :)

I think it's a good idea, but as others have mentioned, there can be significant variability between symptom onset and diagnosis. I find it helpful when people share information on their profiles regarding their symptoms, date of symptom onset, date of diagnosis, current age, medications, supplements, exercise regimen, etc. It's helpful to learn from those who are more experienced while comparing notes with those who are similar to me in age, symptoms, date of diagnosis, etc. I appreciate it when I can learn more about a person through their profiles.

Year of diagnosis doesn’t mean much. I had symptoms years before dx.

I've think people are taking this too seriously. I believe the idea was to get an idea of how long each of us have been dealing with this disease. Someone who was diagnosed 1 year ago vs 15 yrs ago will probably have a difference in mindset and/or experience, which doesn't mean either is right or wrong but it will give others an idea where you're at in this journey. Just about everyone had symptoms a few years before diagnosis. So it's really a question of "How long have you been dealing with PD and/or thought it might be PD?"
