THE FACTS:

Pfizer notably did not accept government money to develop, test or expand manufacturing capacity under Trump’s Operation Warp Speed initiative to quickly find a vaccine and treatments for the disease sweeping the country.

In fact, Pfizer partnered with the vaccine’s original developer, Germany’s BioNTech, in March and the following month announced the first human study in Germany. The White House announced Operation Warp Speed in May.

Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine development and manufacturing costs have been entirely self-funded,” Pfizer spokeswoman Jerica Pitts said this week. “We decided to self-fund our efforts so we could move as fast as possible.”

Hikoi, you do talk sense, sometimes! However, it's not all that meets the eye. Do you think that Pfizer would have invested all the money without the signed agreement to buy almost $2 billion worth of vaccines if successful? By forgoing a few million worth of research money, Pfizer lost nothing. Instead, they got to act like the good, trustworthy guys and now entire nation blocks are lining up to seal deals. The EU has signed up for 300 million doses. This even allowed them to influence the American election by making their announcement a few days after the election. I am not a fan of Donald Trump, but I do agree with his assertion that the announcement was made with a political bent of mind.

I am in agreement still with John Pepper.

Agree there is an agreement to buy. I guess we can expect the same for pd from the USA?? Yep it was a political move to announce after the election. They expected Trump to claim it as his .... he didnt disappoint.

As to JP his retort is hope you enjoy your symptoms, thats nice huh. do you?

Hikoi, I have over the past few weeks developed an epiphany. I can't explain it, but the fact is that I almost feel normal. Before that, I was in what I felt to be a hopeless downward spiral. What is the difference? Almost nothing! The only thing I have noticed is that for whatever reason, I feel joyous and upbeat. My medication has not changed and neither has my behavior or lifestyle. It's just bizzare and frankly terrifying if I dwell upon it because I start to feel that maybe it's all in my head.

There's much more mystery to Parkinson's which to me at least is behaving more and more like a psychological illness than a physiological one, punctuated more by intake of meds instead of without. Until I can find more consistency with the ailment, I am going to reserve judgement.

Great, you seem to be in a groove or "lane." Stay in it. Stay in the lane, don't get cute and "break a thing to see what it is." Just enjoy it and don't try to manage it. On the other hand, if things that seem to help just naturally or occasionally start to "occur" to you, without occurring by intentional forcing, then they may be good to recognize and incorporate. As one of my favorite songwriters, Greg Brown, used to say but somehow stayed in obscurity, "Don't you think too much."

MarionP, thanks for the encouragement. I am going to enjoy the "whiff of the bliss" as long as it lasts!

You are right and I sad that in the past, too: the PD is not just a neurological disease but a psychological disease, too,

Other “ facts” and I quote:

"Not Trump, but Merkel (and the EU) have funded Pfizer and BioNTech's vaccine

Berlin granted a $ 375 million loan in September to speed up product development. The US has only booked a certain number of doses. Not Trump, but Merkel (and the EU) funded Pfizer and BioNTech's vaccine

Berlin granted a $ 375 million loan in September to speed up product development. The US has only booked a certain number of doses

Not only the allegations of fraud in the elections without any evidence, now Donald Trump would also like to hold some credit for the success of the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech. Vice President Mike Pence was among Trump administration officials to say that support from the government's Operation Warp Speed program helped accelerate the development of the vaccine, which was found to be more than 90% effective in preventing Covid-19.

No US funding

But Pfizer has not actually received any funding from the Washington operation to accelerate the development, clinical trials and production of the vaccine. Rather, its partner, BioNTech SE, has received money from Angela Merkel's government and also the European Union through funding from the European Investment Bank. There is talk of 375 million euros paid by Berlono to the company based in Mainz last September. The sum was therefore allocated and spent entirely in Germany to guarantee the biotechnology company the necessary infrastructure for the "Lightspeed" operation, that is, the fastest possible conclusion of the vaccine development with the aim of reaching the market by the end of 'year. The only thing the United States did, after a failed attempt to obtain exclusivity, was to reserve 100 million doses, half of those reserved by the European Union, with the option for another 500 million. Operation Warp Speed, on the other hand, funded the vaccines of AstraZeneca and Moderna, the companies on which the Trump administration seemed to focus the most. The Washington multi-agency program limited itself to reserving doses of the drug for $ 1.95 billion.

Hands free

Not wanting US funds was a definite choice by Pfizer's chief executive, Albert Bourla, who feared he wouldn't have enough leeway if he took federal funds. "We have never been a part of Warp Speed," said Kathrin Janse, Pfizer's senior vice president and director of the vaccine research and development program, "we have never taken any money from either the US government or anyone." Some Republicans, including Donald Trump Jr. and Texas Senator Ted Cruz, even hinted that the timing of Pfizer's announcement, made almost a week after the presidential election, was also a way of not giving a head start. to Trump. But on October 27 the pharmaceutical company announced that it had not reached the threshold of positive cases that would have allowed it to make the data public and indeed subsequently revised its protocols by increasing this threshold, after consulting the United States Food and Drug Administration on minimum requirements to obtain approval. Gio, try convincing this set of facts to the still rabid Trumpian hordes out on the streets who are totally oblivious to reality

I bet (i am sorry if this sounds disrespectful), if Italy or any of the EU countries or democratic countries of Asia such as india had gone through this Looney Tunes version of attempted voter disenfranchisement, the USA would have come down with an iron hammer!

I am ashamed at our double standards.

The US people are a great people, they will be able to correct their own mistakes and will be united more than ever. We all need it to stop the slave makers who forcefully come forward from the East or it will be a new Middle Ages where true knowledge will be obscured ... See Hong Kong.

Hi Gio my friend! I believe more than one company has produced a vaccine. Sadly in my state the Governor won’t release it to the people and won’t currently be receiving it. I wish I could move to a different state but it’s not possible. Everything seems to be political and unfortunately in the USA one side enjoys calling people names. I was raised to respect whatever President we had whether I voted for him or not. We were once United but these days It’s frightening the level of hate that exists.

in reply toConnieD

I dare say that if your president offered even the slightest bit of respect for others, he would receive more of it himself.

Connie, are you referring to the great state of New York? Why are you reluctant to say the name? Donnie Trump is being petty and nothing more than a petulant child who will be terribly punished by God if one exists. He has the collective heartburn and hatred and ill wishes of thousands of millions of people all over the world and I am not sure that any human being can withstand from such bad energy.

He is a 75 year man and still doesn't understand his own mortality. I wish him a very long life with a life changing illness.

For your comfort, your Governor is suing the federal government and you should see good results soon.

For the record, I absolutely love New York🤙. I moved to California from just across the New York border in Connecticut. I encourage you to consider the same.

Hi Connie,

it's always a pleasure to hear from you.

I understand all your concerns.

The goddess Eris (discord) with her daughter Disnomia have done a great job, but soon we will return to trust in others and there will be peace.

Those who want war will undermine the trust among the people.

Trust alone will bring peace

There are 4 vaccines on the way.

In the meantime I keep the mask and I don't frequent crowded places indoors, this will be enough. a warm greeting from Italy.
