Very interesting:

"Abstract

Aims: We performed a double blind placebo controlled crossover pilot study in seven patients to investigate the effect of the ACE inhibitor, perindopril on the clinical features of moderately severe Parkinson's disease.

Results: After a four week treatment period with perindopril, patients had a faster onset in their motor response to L‐dopa and a reduction in ‘on phase’ peak dyskinesia, p=0.021 and p=0.014 respectively. Patients also reported more ‘on’ periods during their waking day in their movement diary, p=0.007. Perindopril was well tolerated without any significant postural hypotension or renal dysfunction."

Small study but strong P values looked like good indication of real benefit - until we look at the full study:

Table 2 shows on period with placebo increased by 5.4 minutes vs. 6.4 minutes with the drug. This cannot be p = .007.

Also latency from taking carbidopa levodopa to getting motor response ended up being the same with the test drug and placebo. It only looked better with the test drug because there was a higher latency before starting the test drug.

Finally, per table 2, they cherry picked the best results - most results were not statistically significant. Statistical significance only counts if you prespecify the desired parameters. Cherry picking after the fact does not count.
