Hi - has anyone tried frankencense oil for Parkinson’s?
Frankencense essential oil: Hi - has anyone... - Cure Parkinson's
Frankencense essential oil
I tried it for mosquitoes and it was very effective but it had a terrible effect on my cat. I burnt the frankincense gum in a burner and my cat vomited and was in a stupor. Do be careful because everyone reacts differently
Tea tree oil is another one that is poisonous to dogs.
Mary,
My husband is using Frankincense on his temples every night. My little dog was sleeping in our bedroom in his own bed though, 10 ft away from our bed. Could the smell have hurt him (he passed on a month ago).
I am so sorry about your little dog. I don't know, the only one I'm sure about is the tea tree oil. And my daughter told me about it, I guess you could go on Google and see what they say. My two little dogs are 12 and 10, and the 12 one is on three heart medications, I keep on thinking sometimes it's her last day and then she comes through. My third dog is about 7.
Cheller0566, I shared this in my blog: silverliningsandparkinsons....
"In studies performed in Vienna and Berlin Universities, researchers discovered that sesquiterpenes, a natural compound found in essential oils of Vetiver, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, and Frankincense, can increase levels of oxygen in the brain by up to 28 percent."
I can't say how much it is helping me,,, but check out my transparency page from the home page.
Hi I ordered frankincense for my husband I’m not able to open your blog need to know more on essential oil if they effective for PD
@Arcade786 Not all essential oils are created equal. Not all are cold pressed. Some are cut with harmful chemicals. or diluted. If you find a cheep version, you probably are not getting a good product. I found a source that I trust, that isn't net work marketed. So it isn't so expensive. Rosenmu gave a great report on Essential oils
I have known for sometime that frankincense was useful for tumours and that it was an essential oil to use for Parkinson’s, however, after using it for a period of time, I was not aware of any change in my PD symptoms. Perhaps it was too subtle...
Frankincense oil is known for its numerous beneficial properties. It is known to influence the nervous system which is one of the severe problems in patients with Parkinson’s disease. -Naturally Daily-
Frankincense is one of those oils that is good for many things in the whole body. A noted one is inflammation which can and does effect the brain, especially so for PD. Frankincense contains 8% sesquiterpenes and is 78% monoterpenes. Monoterpenes are known to be calming. People have used it sucessfully for treating tremors.
I use it daily on the back of my neck and the roof of my mouth, but have not paid notice for effectiveness. I will have to try it next time I am in an off time.
Other oils for relaxing, basil, lavender, sandalwood, cedarwood, valerian.
I also use Northern Lights Black Spruce :This study found that certain Spruce trees inhibit an enzyme in the brain called Mono Amine Oxidase (MAO). The enzyme's job is to break down neurotransmitters so they can be recycled and reused.
The enzyme MAO breaks down 3 important neurotransmitters.
1) Serotonin - the "happy hormone"
2) Norepinephrine - involved in alertness and arousal
3) Dopamine - pleasure, reward, and physical movements
There is class of drugs known as MAO INHIBITORS. They have been prescribed for depression, anxiety and Parkinson's. When the drugs inhibit that enzyme, there is an increase in the effect of those levels of neurotransmitters because they aren't snatched and recycled by MAO as quickly.
This study found that extracts from conifers such as Balsam Fir and Black Spruce (valor's main ingredient) can inhibit this very same enzyme. THAT might be why people feel happier and more relaxed when valor is in the air (or when it's used for a neck massage).
This is different than an SSRI but ultimately both approaches are trying to make a small/insufficient amount of the brain's neurotransmitters, hang around a little longer to extend their effect.

Citrus oils also help increase glutathione levels.
Always use quality essential oils or not at all. Cheap brands have little to no essential oils and can have who knows what as filler oil.
Thank you for your response. My husband just started using Monq Zen. It's an all natural essential oil vape pen. It seems to be calming his hand tremor a bit, but it is too early to tell. I will keep you posted.
I have been doing a trial and error with Frank and the black spruce Young Living oils on the back of my neck, I have not taken any mucuna for 17 hours and no tremor so far, will keep going and then consult my natural health Dr at appt this week. I have used the oils three times in that amount of time.
I did do a 5 day trial period with essential oils, only took mucuna 2 nights trying to improve sleep. I had no tremor at all with essential oils for 5 days with no ldopa during the day. I used Frank, Black Spruce, Cedarwood, Vetiver and Pathchouli. I looked up the oils that were high in sesquiterpenes for crossing the blood brain barrier and helping to oxygenate the brain. Only symptom I had was slight drool, barely. Not sure if things would be different if I had gone a month or two. My Dr was impressed and reduced my mucuna, says that does not happen. I'm on 650 99% mucuna 2x a day and oils on the back of my neck when I think of it. I was pretty excited about it. Thank you for starting this topic, I use EOs quite frequently, but this got me on the right track.
