Unbelievable! Yet, I have read about others achieving similar transformation in certain situations.

Yes Parkinson's screws up the automated stuff, like walking. Movements that require conscious attention seem to be less affected.

This simple comment has a lot of importance and applicability that belies it's brevity. I'd recommend people to read it over and over and think about it a few times.

For example, you gradually become more and more frozen, or find it harder and harder to break out from stopped. But if you think "I think I want to put my foot not just anywhere forward without thinking much about it, but THERE, three inches to the right in a circle or spot I just mentally drew, a cue spot, then somehow that gets you unstuck and you're off.

I can think of a couple of other examples. The first is Michael j Fox playing ice hockey.

And the 2nd, a young Indian lady trying to help a favourite uncle get around. Although he needed a frame to walk and took tiny shuffling steps, he had no problems on stairs so she made mats with a 3d stair effect on them and he could walk along those.

You see it in that video. Before he gets to the ball he has no problems with the step

Not sure why this shows "video unavailable" when I tried the link - because its there on YOutube. Search for "Parkinsons stair illusion"

Hi Grumpy. I am not sure if I understand your concern. Please phrase your question clearly. Do you have doubts about the video?

I don't walk in short steps and maybe you don't, but maybe some do. I don't know anyone who does, but I don't think it is fake.

Not sure whether your problem is walking like that (festination) or suddenly walking normally. My Dad freezes and restarts with a shuffle like that. He is a bit frail and rigid now, but descended steps at a normal pace. My mate Jim (who whoops me at pool) also increasingly has a festination problem as his meds struggle to cope.

Winnie, are you addressing me? I don't have this problem. I replied to Grumpy.
