More than half of clinical trials still hidden from public view: report
The slant of this article is somewhat misleading unless you understand the context.
From my experience with cancer trials, I would say 50% is somewhat inaccurate. Probably higher depending on the type of cancer.
Remember, I seriously doubt all of these hidden CT reports are truly "hidden' as suggested, which implies unethical behavior on the part of the research group. Oftentimes, these hidden CTs (unpublished) have nothing new to report, find translation problems (from Chinese in particular), opposing review problems, IR board problems, couldn't recruit enough participants, too many participants dropped out (i.e.pancreatic cancer), etc.
The remainder of the "hidden" are simply never going to get a peer review, so into the vapor they go. It is the way the system prevents an overload of studies which show little relevance. We have enough published ones to begin with.
