B1 500 Mg :side effects

I KNOW THAT we don't need a prescription to buy it but I fear the dosage (2 to 4 grams) could cause side effects if not controlled by a doctor . ; My question is opened to anybody having tested it with significant result ... In that case , did you take it at a relatively low dose ( 1GR for example) ) then increasing to 3 or 4 gr a day.? IT seems that if there are side effects it should be safer to proceed that way . I am interested to hear from a pakinsonian having tried the B1cure with or without stopping the current cure with levadopa . Whatever your experiment was , I am eager to know . BIG THANKS . M.C

PARKINPONS2,

Just so you are aware of it, the effective dose range that has been reported by members on this forum is 25 mg/50 mg ~ 4,000 mg/day.

thank you chartist. I intend to start a treatment withB1 tablets and continie with levodopa because I don't know if any member of this forum has got results with thiiamine alone . Anyway ,the major difficulty is that nobody so far mentioned a French neurologist

who could coach a patient telling him when , how much etc could suit his casze . I just wonder if I have to do to Italy because there would be NO neurologist in France believing in that alternative therapy . Thanks . M.C

Just in case you have trouble swallowing, the capsules of B-1 500 mg are smaller and easier to swallow than the tablets which many members have complained about having a hard time swallowing the pills and have even had to chew them up in order to get them down. Thiamine is fairly bitter.

The general consensus from the members who have reported about how their neurologist, doctor or MDS has reacted to B-1 is a lack of interest on their part. It is not considered a mainstream treatment and many are not even aware that it exists. There have been a few neurologists who although not familiar with HDT, were willing to monitor their patients who chose to use it.

If you are looking for a neurologist who will be up to date and very knowledgeable about HDT, Dr. Fancellu in Italy is likely to be the only one who will know how to maximize the synergy between B-1 and Levodopa type medications. I'm not sure if he is still doing it, but earlier this year he was offering to do email consults, but he wanted to see you in his office for your first visit so that he could do a proper evaluation.

B1 protocol does not recommend stopping levodopa. It is noot a replacement they work in synergy together. Research the protocol on this forum where there is alot of info or highdosethiamine.org site

alaynedellow,

Yes, I believe you are correct. I think even members who are not taking a C/L medication with their B-1 are at a minimum taking other supplements or possibly mucuna pruriens as a natural supplement in place of levodopa.

Yes, tried B1 up to 4g. Probably increased too quickly. Some members I’ve noticed since are much more patient. My husband’s blood pressure spiked up to 214/110. He is now on 1000mg and we will increase it more slowly this time and not go as high. We will do the magnesium l-threonate too when I know what dose to start with. My husband’s problems are more mental at the moment..extreme apathy, memory, etc. and that seems to be the best magnesium for those problems.

Have you by chance been following the thread about LOW-DOSE lithium orotate?

There is some research supporting its use to improve memory function for people with PD and AD. Perhaps this is something to look into for your husband's mental symptoms.

I haven't tried it yet but plan to.

Best wishes to you both!!

Yes I've put it on my list of things to discuss with our pharmacist, whose been very interested in the B1 etc and also the mannitol for loss of sense of taste and smell. He found further research on that for me. I've ordered on line and it should be here any day. Rescuea sent me a couple of links and also asked whether my husband might have Mortons Foot (did make me laugh), but yes he does... 2nd toe is bigger than first toe. Apparently I need to get B6 and 12. Rescuea and GioCas have some amazing conversations .. They lose me often. 🤔 I've got a bit of reading to do before I go to see the pharmacist.

I'm very thankful for people like you. I do contribute when I think I can as well.

Not what you're looking for?
