MRI

I had an MRI yesterday of head and neck. My dominant hand tremor wouldn't settle down and the nurses yelled at me to stop moving, as if I had any control. I remembered the pill-rolling trick. That seemed to work. At least enough there was no more yelling.

Did you tell them prior to the MRI that you have Parkinson’s? Sometimes you can get sedation that will help.

I would never condone yelling.

I'm so sorry you had that experience, kaypeeoh. I remember that my late husband couldn't keep still during his MRI scan.

I had a tech put a sandbag on my leg to keep it still.

Some people just don’t understand, that some PD sufferers can’t stop moving. One would think that nurses and medical pros would understand. Alas, many don’t! Yelling at a patient is not helpful. I’ve had many MRI’s. Sometimes adjusting pillows etc. helps. I’m glad you found something that worked.

As if it's something within your control. For healthcare professionals they are sadly ignorant.

A nurse or any medical practitioner should NEVER yell at a patient.

Geez.

Don't you just love the empathy healthcare providers exude? HAH! I went for a mammogram last week and the technician commented that because I had a tremor I'd get extra pressure applied so she'd get a good reading. Then they tell you to hold your breath, no problem there!

They can do Ultrasound. I was injured in a mammogram and refused to do another. Ultrasound was the alternative. And is better anyway. But there is also thermography too if available.

Thanks for the replies. I was wearing earmuffs to dampen the loud MRI popping and clicking. They had first asked what kind of music I wanted. I said no music. I assumed that's why they were yelling. But in past MRIs someone would talk into a microphone that was relayed to my ears. But even then there was yelling.

If they yelled at you under those circumstances they should be fired and walked out to their vehicles!!
