I worked for a surface coal mining company 42 years before being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I managed many operations and the reclamation of the land once all coal was removed. Many herbicides used there over a 25 year term then I was offered to work the same company operation in Colombia SA. The mines were located in the foot hills of the Indies Mountains and every night trucks spraying pesticides roamed thru the living quarters and surroundings. I worked there 20 years. We passed stockpiled coal that due to the extreme hot temperatures year round excreted fumes from the hot coal. I know that the environment has been linked to PD thru pesticides and herbicides and I feel that the fumes from the stockpiled coal also contributed to my diagnosis. I wonder if there has been a study linking raw coal to PD. We never wore masks but the Colombian employees always wore masks in and around the coal mines. Again I worked in surface strip mines not underground. I am very interested in a study if anyone knows of one.
