Some are harshly critical, felt the program was in bad taste, that it’s offensive to create humor about PD, while others thought it was exactly the right antidote.
While most of us agree ‘you are what you eat,’ I also think ‘you are what you think.’
If you don't have a positive attitude when you have PD is it your fault if you never get better? If you've had a less than joyful personality, will you get PD or cancer or ... Doesn't anyone feel like the victim is being blamed?
I totally get that. I've wrestled with depression on and off much of my adult life and I can tell you with certainty I used to resent people telling me, "just be happy. You need a better attitude." I'm not sure if I would rather have PD then be depressed. It was terrible.
Some people, however, are still in a place where they have some control their attitude. I posted those old links Because I felt the comments heartfelt and touching, hoping to encourage those who can, to try, To keep fighting.
My sincere apology if you felt blamed. That would be the last thing I would want.
I think just as we fight the disease we need to fight to be as positive as we can and remind ourselves what we’re grateful for. In doing so we will have a better quality of life whether we improve or not. It’s a battle but it will make our life and the lives of those that love us better if we try to live joyfully. We will certainly have a tough day now and again and don’t beat yourself up for it ! All we can do is keep trying!!
Yes, but you don't need to. I'm sure others felt the same as you did. But, if you want to edit a post, click on the link Immediately below the post that says "More" with the down arrow. A window will open with the option to edit, delete, or report.
