Have any of you experienced melanoma as w... - Cure Parkinson's
Have any of you experienced melanoma as well as PD? It is crazy the tie up between the 2 diseases. This article is interesting explaining it
I have. Multiple occurences.
Interesting. I wonder how many of us here with PD are pale with reddish or blond hair and freckles. I am!
I had malignant melanoma in 2001. I had a surgery to have it removed and a certain border. A few months later I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I read that skin cells have TSH receptors and when TSH is raised it increases melanoma risk.
I hope you are doing great now. Take care, Gigi.
The President of my Parkison's support group had Leukemia along with Parkinsons. It is in remission.
My husband with PD (was in the sun, used to coach soccer and golf)has had skin cancers, A Sarcoma removed but no melanoma but he is watched by our specialist and he even had a new blue light treatment done on head and arms to prevent it. I've also had one that was maybe melenoma on the side if my face where the sun hits when driving and a carcinoma removed from that side of my nose using a surgical tecnique that closes an open hole with a kind of figure 8 procedure. It healed well but is numb. As we get older, in our 70's, it becomes more of a problem. M.A. in USA
The information sheet that comes with rasagiline advises melanoma vigilance. I see a dermatolagist 2x per year and been clear for 19 months, thank goodness. Recently I've begun to have itchy areas on the arms and shoulders, a condition that I've never experienced before. Any information?
