Four grams a day, thiamin hcl.

Regarding tremor and mealtime, I am trying to determine when to eat and when to dose. After my five a.m. dose and not having anything on my stomach all night, no tremor. After breakfast tremor returned.

do you think your dose could be too high, since the tremor returns after you take the dose?

in reply to jujulini

Three hours no tremor. Then breakfast, then tremor

Roy, I, too, have a similar experience. Do you take the Thiamine and PD meds at the same time--on an empty stomach? Have you experimented with separating the Thiamine from the PD meds?

in reply to Syncletica

Yes and no

If your tremors get worse after food then have your insulin resistance checked.

in reply to Kia17

"The following are all risk factors for insulin resistance, prediabetes, and diabetes, and some can be modified by lifestyle changes or medical help:

Overweight and obesity (primarily abdominal obesity)

Sedentary lifestyle - not engaging in physical activity regularly

Smoking

Sleep issues"

I do not smoke and not overweight. Hmmm!

That doesn’t include all the signs. You might have brain insulin resistance. The insulin resistance is very complex issue. I would have checked my blood sugar, HbA1C, and tried low carb diet for sometimes.

Diabetes is caused by fat inside your cells, so you can be thin and still have it. Here's a short video explaining in very straight-forward way what's going on with diabetes. Some funny stories too. youtu.be/ktQzM2IA-qU

There’s a great documentary called The Magic Pill, which is fascinating - and much more convincing than Neil Barnard. It’s on Netflix

A simplistic thought, but for what it's worth, no tremor after all night, and 5 AM till breakfast, so your stomach has been empty from approximately 11 PM the night before till breakfast. Your body/stomach/brain did not have to share the 5 AM dose, 2 gms with food digestion etc. It had the 2gm dose all to itself...Once you ate breakfast and took your next 2gms, the thiamin dose gets mixed up in the digestion/absorption process and has competition. So maybe when taken near a meal/food we need to increase that dose. For instance, many meds potency diminish when taken with food . Maybe that's why the tremors returned after breakfast ??

in reply to KERRINGTON

Tremors all night. Stop after 5am meds. Start again after 8am breakfast

jujulini profile image
jujulini in reply to

it could still be the food interfering with the meds. im assuming you dont take any meds at night, and then the meds take care of the tremors at 5 am, but then you eat, and the meds are competing with the food, and then the tremors return???

Oh, didn't realize that, but there could still be a possibility that food diminishes thiamine's action.

What do you eat for breakfast? And what other supplements do you take with breakfast?

Hello Roy.

I think you may have made a significant observation. I have observed that my symptoms get worse after a large meal. I have now gone onto a low carb diet (soft keto) alongside B1 3.5 g, 2g before breakfast, after viewing the video W Curtis recently posted by Kia. So far I've lost weight but too soon to draw a clear conclusion.

My question is "What constitutes your breakfast?". Is it high or low carb, and does high or low carb (or other variants - coffee, tea, milk etc. ) make a difference to your observation? I'll be making the same tests on this side of the pond.

Even a small amount of carbs have a huge negative impact on symptoms.

I would say Thiamine and Keto or even semi-keto diet can change the PD equation alot.

Interesting. I react poorly to any animal protein and HCs are fine. Overall calorie reduction seems to be beneficial.

My tremors disappeared after I stopped eating gluten

Anf I do not eat anything 1hr before & 1hr after PD meds

Good luck 🌸

Today:

5am, took meds and then back to sleepy with tremors.

7am, awoke, no tremor, watching Senators vote Judge Kavanaugh to SCOTUS.

What do you mean by Senators voting Judge Kavanaugh to SCOTUS? What does that mean? We've been watching the news about his troubles and haven't heard results yet. Suffering Socks

I eat rice.

The thiamine is beginning to positively reduce your tremor time daily. That’s similar to what happened to my tremor on B1.

I had an intermittent tremor I describe as a 4/5 on a scale of 1-10. Ten being the worst. Now it’s a 1/2, but mostly a one or none due to B1.

My tremor began to disappear at different points during the day and I too thought it was food at first.

B1 since April, tremor reduction occurred during the last 2-3 months until now where it’s almost gone.

Try not to over think it. That helps a lot. I went to Europe for 18 days and because I was distracted my tremor further disappeared. This has remained constant since my return.

Just say “ the B1 is working”. And get busy on something else. And as Dr. Constantini says “you’ll be fine forever”.

Cons10s, I agree.

That's a good idea. The b1 works even if we don't think about it.

When I have a few stressful days and the symptoms seem to get a little worse, I ignore it and go straight for my way, so I'm sure I'll soon get back in good shape as before, whether I worry or not.

Dear Roy, I too have a similar experience. In the mornings my tremors are very diminished, but after breakfast they become very pronounced. I have tried several ways of taking B1; before breakfast, during breakfast, and after breakfast but still the same results. My tremors seem to only improve in the evening, starting around 4 PM. I definitely believe that my B1 regiment is having a positive effect, just wish it would start working early in the day. I take 4 g a day. Looking forward to other replies!

Fasting has many health benefits not only PD and still further conducting researches to know more about its positive impact on Conditions .

Yesterday I moved my morning and afternoon dose schedule from the 5 to the 8 hour. Today at two in the morning my tremor is level 0 to 1 on a scale of zero to nine.
