It won't "hurt". After I had mine the doctor said all was good. He also said because of my age I will not require another such exam.

Its a relatively simple and painless procedure. I wouldn't worry

There are ways other than pain in which a mechanical colon inspection is unpleasant and stressful. And it is also expensive. For people who have no indications of a problem, a Cologuard screening is usually sufficient. Look at cologuardtest.com/?gclid=Cj... and ask your doctor if t is advisable for you.

In the UK, they give you an unpleasant laxative liquid to drink the night before. Most people manage okay, but I didnt. So when I next needed a colonoscopy, they gave me a colonography instead. That procedure was similar, but suited me better. But I think colonoscopy is the more thorough investigation. It is a bit more invasive than colonography. It can be uncomfortable some of the time during the procedure, but they can help you with that. It doesnt take long and it's best to have it done if you want to be sure there is no bowel condition that needs treatment. If they find small polyps, they can remove them straight away. That was my experience anyway. I hope it goes well for your husband.

The medication they give you knocks you out so you dont remember or feel any of it. The worst part is the disgusting drink you have to have the day before and going without food . The drink made me vomit and have a terrible headache and I couldnt keep the drink down. I am not sure how i would have coped if i had to take important medication.

My husband's GP keeps recommending a colonoscopy. I had one, where they make you drink gallons of this disgusting liquid until you literally pass every ounce of fluid and solid from your body...I was a mess, weak and shaking. I can't imagine that this process would be "easy" for someone with Parkinson's. Meds out of your system would be my first worry. Don't diabetics have to eat regularly to keep their blood sugar stable? Maybe there are other methods out there to get a colonoscopy now? Swallow a pill with camera??? I'm a little on the neurotic side, but I think that you are wise to ask a few questions based on your husband's major health conditions.
