Hello I am new to this, forum. I suffer from Crohns for past 29 years and 7 years for Parkinson,and they both very active at present time. I am on various medication for both disuses.I have noticed my left leg calf mussels and all joints are painfull,and my toes curling up in morning any advise.

Inflexinab fusion every 8 weeks since this year.(6 surgery so far)for crohns.

PD Aphomorphin, 6 sinamet, 2pramipexole, rasagilini and slow release sinamet at night.

You may have already looked into it since you have had Crohn's as long as you have, but Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) has shown itself to be quite effective for some and in others, it also has shown potential to lessen some PD symptoms. Crohn's is probably the best studied use of LDN. Not so much for PD though. LDN has a very good safety profile on its own at the low dose level, but the high dose level has shown significant potential for side effects.

One problem you are likely to run into is that your doctor may not be aware of LDN even though it is a fairly old prescription med. As such, your doctor may not want to prescribe it and you will have to find a doctor who will. Search LDN / Crohn's Disease on line and most of your questions will be answered!. There are probably at least two forum members who might be testing LDN at this time.

Naltrexone was originally developed to treat certain drug addiction but was later discovered by Dr. Bihari that used at a very low dose, to have a myriad of health benefits of which Crohn's has been one of the most studied. It is only taken once before bedtime at 1 to 5 mg. It is relatively cheap as prescription meds go. It has to be made by a compounding pharmacy and according to many people who have used it, this is a critical selection and step in the process of getting started on the right foot. There are four or five compounding pharmacies across the US that are regularly recommended on LDN forums for this purpose. Some people who have gone to just any compounding pharmacy have found that the LDN did not work as well as when they used product from the recommended pharmacies or it did not work at all. Do your research and discuss it with your doctor to make sure it is compatible with your other meds for your safety!

LDN saved me from 30 plus years of really awful diarrhea. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Have you tried magnesium? It's very helpful for toe curling. I'm also finding sodium bicarbonate is helping with stiffness- 1/2 tsp a day. Tastes awful so must be good!!

I take Magnesium Citrate to prevent muscle cramps every night before bedtime. Magnesium Citrate is supposed to be absorbed better than other lower cost versions of magnesium. I now take 2 - 250 mg capsules before bed. Start with one capsule as it is also a natural laxative.

When I have a severe muscle cramp that does not immediately go away, I either drink a little apple cider vinegar (about 1/8 cup) or eat some dill pickles. I hold my nose while I swallow the vinegar and then eat crackers immediately after, but if this doesn't work, you can mix it in a cup of juice. I know this sounds crazy but it works better than any medication I have tried for immediate relief. I also have other friends that eat dill pickles or drink dill pickle juice and are convinced it works almost immediately!

I also have prescriptions from my primary care physician for these 2 muscle relaxants -

1) Nightime - Cyclobenzaprine - 10 mg

2) Daytime - Methocarbamol - 750 mg

These are useful you have muscle cramps that are not resolved by other means.

Also I used to get toe cramps and now I don't. I do exercises while brushing my teeth or waiting for the microwave. I hold on to the counter and then raise up on my toes. Then I go back down. I repeat until I am finished brushing my teeth or waiting for the microwave.

I heard a tablespoon of yellow mustard at night helps with cramps also and club soda too.I am just starting to get cramps but i believe mine are due to not drinking enough water.

Welcome Cricket...the curling of your toes and muscle pain maybe Dystonia. When you visit with your neurologist mention your new symptoms. Sorry 😐
