I received an Alexa (Amazon Echo) for Christmas and i use it to remind me when to take my meds. You can set as many reminders as you want. All you have to do is say "Alexa remind me to take my meds at 2 pm" and it is set.
It also makes hand free Phone calls. All you need to do is link your phone to it. After that it will call anyone in your contacts by name. All you say is Alexa call John Jones or just John if you only have 1 John in your contacts and it will make the call. You can also make a call by saying the number like 555 555 1515. The good thing about it does not tie up your phone you could still make a call with your phone at the same time.
It does a lot of things all you have to do is ask.
If you have one ask it "Who's on first" the answer is great. If you know what the answer is you are showing your age or you have watched a lot of old movies.

Do you have to have wiFi, or Blutooth or a Smart phone for that Amazon Echo? How much setting up does it require? Sure would be great if you fell or something else happened. M.A. in USA
I just listened to an NPR show where they talked about technology....specifically Alexa. Amazon "Alexa" records all conversations in the room and transmits it to their database. I guess it would be recording all your calls you make from it too. If you don't care who has access to your private conversations, its ok. Just don't mention any bank heists or cannabis use! lol!
My son got the google version. I'm not too keen on the NSA hearing my conversations, but it is an amazing piece of technology that may be even more helpful if you are disabled.
