I have problems with its opening premise which makes me question what follows
Does the AMA really say *genetics and age are not implicated in the cause of PD!?
“Contrary to popular belief that Parkinson's is genetic and an 'old age' disease, the AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION has just declared that the culprits for these devastating tremors are pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and various chemicals. (American Medical Association Publication 27 January 99).”
I guess they're trying to sell water filters. I noticed that also. Everything has to be taken with a grain of salt. Couple years ago I did have a mineral analysis done using my hair. It shows tremendous amount of aluminum.
That is not a particularly good article but permethrin exposure (the “flea bomb” ingredient) in particular triples the risk of PD. Nor is that the only pesticide perp. Parkinson's and Pesticides: tinyurl.com/y8tckmx4
here's a couple articles on PD and toxins.

I was Dxed with PD about 10 years ago. My neurologist had me tested for pesticides and I came up high with transnonachlor. (sp?) Commonly used pesticide. I also had high uranium and manganese. Who knows why. I never worked with manganese, though I know that people who did can get irreversible PD. I also have neurological Lyme (late stage) testing high for a number of tick-borne pathogens.
I dont deny that for some people chemicals are part of the cause of their pd. as is probably trauma, genetics, stress.... i objected to the rather simplistic suggestion that chemicals are the only cause because it fitted their agenda.
I presume minerals revealed by blood analysis? But im curious how do they test for pesticides?
Hair analysis gives you a better picture. This is an old article from 1999. Mary
What analysis did you have done and where?
it will take me a little while to find it but I'll get back to you

She works with dr. Wilson I was happy with my hair analysis I got a good report with many directives, again it's a holistic approach.
This site dislikes hair analysis: quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRe... I hadn't heard of it until now.
2 'things':
1) here is a counterpoint to the quackwatch article
drlwilson.com/articles/hair...
2) If hair analysis is inaccurate and unreliable then why are businesses using hair analysis to determine if someone has smoked marijuana or used other illegal drugs?

So this is a big part of how I think I was exposed to toxins that probably contributed to my PD. Unfortunately us veterans that went to Ft. McClellan for training or stationed there, are having a hard time with the VA and Congress acknowledging that our illnesses came from this very toxic place.
