The following supplements have resolved the problem for me:

1. 1 Magnesium 400 mg NOW capsule-after supper.

2. 2 or 3 Mag-07 (Aerobic Life) before bedtime with water. (amazon.com/Aerobic-Life-Dig...

I hope this benefits you as well.

Yes I had constipation from PD due to drying out of my GI tract. No cramps. I found that Docusate sodium, aka Colace, solved the problem. It also turns out that melatonin solves the problem too well and I would not recommend it.

smooth move is great...just take at bedtime and you'll have relief in the morning, no cramping but best to be near the toilet!

colace will not give you cramps - all it does is add moisture

Smoothe move gave me cramps. Lots of water and exercise helps, plus a "squatty potty" has helped me a lot, check it out on Amazon. And magnesium.

Constipation is a non-motor symptom of PD. It was one of the many I had before I started on C/L. I've never tried Smooth Move so I can't comment on that. I went to a gastroenterologist and of the many things he gave me to take the only thing that works for me is Miralax. I take a double dose daily and I have no cramping from it. If you want to give it a try I'd start off with one dose daily and work up to two. Do it over a weekend so you'll know what to expect. We're all different so you may have to try a few things before you find the one that works for you. Good luck!
