Regarding bright light therapy: Caution is advised if one has a pre-existing condition of fragile retinas resulting from recurrent iritis.

My first symptoms started when I moved from sunny Florida to the rainy West Coast. I recall my first Winter was very depressing and hard. I just got my Lux light and I am trying light terapy.

I notice that no mention is made on fast walking. I have been able to reverse most of my symptoms by doing fast walking, something that nothing else has achieved in your list of possible things to do. I know that no studies have been done on fast walking, but who is going to do them if nobody stands to gain financially from it. I have not taken any Pd medication for the past 14 years and I have not needed to see a neurologist either, as long as I continue to fast walk for one hour, three times a week.

Maybe somebody will conduct a study on various forms of exercise, including fast walking, boxing, dancing, Tai chi, yoga, Nordic walking and any other exercise people claim can help Pd. Perhaps MJFF would care to look into this, even though it does not do anything for drug sales, other than possibly reduce them.

EARTH TO JP... NEWSFLASH: THE SECRET IS OUT (and has been out for years)! Everybody already knows that prolonged aerobic exercise is beneficial for symptomatic relief - regardless of the "form". It's effectiveness is determined by heart-rate, time, and consistency (and your list should include jogging and cycling)

I used this therapy for 12 months with a 10000 lux bright light for 1hr 1 hr before retiring. The light was about 2-3 feet away so I could watch television while using it. I tried firstly to use it without also using L-dopa then I started on a medication routine of 125 madopar 3 xs a day. My symptoms are primarily bilateral tremor and this was not releived or that I could notice. I ceased some 6 months ago. I was doing this under supervision of Greg Willis who I have the greatest respect for but suspect it does not work for all cases.
