I buy mine online at goldpharma.com Just fill out the form and use your MasterCard and you will get it in a few weeks
Also the correct name is Xadago
Has anyone had success ie significant improvement (that is not placebo) with Xadago?
I have had major improvement from it. I barely even need sinemet anymore. I used to have terrible symptoms and they have subsided greatly with Xadago.
Great news rhenry 45 .Like most of us my patience is wearing thin after struggling 12 years with this accursed disease. I understand that this new drug replaces the Azilect and so is taken once per day at 150 or 200 mg.
Is this your understanding
Its a drug in the same family as entacopone so as i understand is made to be used with sinemet or dopamine agonist. Its difference is that its a once a day med. is this correct?
I understand it's an MAOI (B)
So it replaces rasagaline (Azilect) rather than entacapone which is another type of drug. In the UK it has been licensed since last May but can only be prescribed by a neurologist. This is because although it is an MAOI it works slightly differently from Rasagaline and stays in the body up to 6 times longer - which is why it can help smooth out severe on/off problems. However - AZILECT/RASAGALINE MUST BE STOPPED 14 DAYS BEFORE COMMENCING XADAGO (Safinamide ). It should be titrated up to the therapeutic dose under the guidance of a neurologist. All MAOIs are very strongly contraindicated with antidepressants -especially SSRIS Eg Fluoxitine Prozac etc. Even if you have been able to combine Rasagaline with an antidepressant -(in the UK Mirtazapine is often used ) it may not be safe with xadago . It can cause serotonergic syndrome where blood pressure goes out of control and this can be fatal. If you can find a neurologist who knows about how to introduce it safely then it seems from the research to provide considerable benefits. However it's a big IF. I've met 2 PD consultants recently who had never hesrd of it 'despite their nurse being the person who first told me about it. And last week I saw a consultant physician who confused it with a totally different class of drug and if I hadn't known better would have sent me off to take it 4 times a day plus the Azilect I'm already taking . Which is a bit scary. So - a promising drug but do take care .Google Safinamide and you'll finduseful research and guidance.
It is NOT in the same family as entacapone. Xadago is a special kind of MAO inhibitor while entacapone is a COMT inhibitor. They could not be more different.
I am only taking azilect right now. I wonder if xadago by itself would be better than azilect by itself.
Well to start off, the correct spelling of the drug is xadago. The drug was only FDA approved in mid March of this yeare. this is one of those pricey $600-$700 / mo. Drugs so you may want to get from Canada.
