Hi looks like a very good show if you click on the link that you provided you can watch it on your cell phone or on your computer. I don't know how long the link is going to be good for bot right now I started watching yet
Here is the broadcast info posted on the 4 corners website:
"A SENSE OF SELF, reported by Liz Jackson for Contact Films, presented by Sarah Ferguson, goes to air on Monday 21st November at 8.30pm EDT. It is replayed on Tuesday 22nd November at 10.00am and Wednesday 23rd at 11pm. It can also be seen on ABC News 24 on Saturday at 8.00pm AEST, ABC iview and at abc.net.au/4corners."
So I expect it will remain available in full for viewing online through this Saturday, Nov. 26, and maybe even longer. (The video lasts 57 minutes.)
This is not for the faint hearted. In fact it is both sad and scary. I can tell Liz did the documentary to help understanding of pd but having watched bits of it I think it will do the opposite. Liz's experiences are not typical, probably much worse, and this is the danger of a story about one pd sufferer. People will now assume this is the plight of all pwp, knowing how people think. This will make it more difficult for people to disclose their diagnosis to friends and at work for fear people will assume they will be like Liz. This is unfortunate because Liz doesn't want pity but the showing her at her worst means people will only have pity.
are these viewing options for new york too? I was trying to find it on tv here, but to no avail. Any insight for New Yorkers/ east coast US?
Thank you for all comments and replies But I still dont know how to watch it from my home in sunnyvale CA!
I was told by a friend may be it would be on YouTube , yesterday I searched for 2 hours , all I was able to find is short advertisement for the show at 8:30 pm, and then when reaching apps : not avail in your country!!!
Did someone find a solution to watch it from California?
Thank you
The Stranger
(a variation on a theme by Camus)
I stare
At the stranger
In the mirror—
And the stranger
In the mirror
Stares back at me.
Then I see
That the stranger
In the mirror
Is the stranger
That is ME!
PD has robbed me of my identity:
“Where have you fled?
Where are you hiding?”
“Look for me
And you will find me—
Under the tombstone
In your soul.”
You can watch it via the catch up tv link on abc.net.au/ I did see the program and for me it was disappointing, as it creates the impression that dementia is part of having Parkinson's disease. There are at least 5 different types of Parkinson's disease and many people with the disease do not have any signs of dementia. This is actually my first post. I live in Sydney Australia, and was first diagnosed in 2013. I am a 68 years old male. Muhammad Ali was a good example of someone with Parkinson's whose mind remained sharp. Even when he could no longer talk, he used the keyboard. I found the documentary to be a little depressing. The fact that you have Parkinson's does not mean that you will develop dementia as well.
Got it ! watched it! Interesting with no judgement as Liz requested!!
Very courageous of her to share her story!
Best to all
