yes, Hi, I did 4 HBOT treatments back when I had money and I was not yet diagnosed. They have done studies on it for things like healing wounds that won't heal, and I forgot what else, but it didn't help my symptoms and it was $170/treatment!

Hoping this helps you,

Suzie

I had 8 treatments 12 years ago & noticed no difference. On the other hand, I have only heard tat Michael J. Fox lives high on a mountain in CA & & this deprivation of oxygen is helpful??

Hyperbaric was the first alternative treatment we took and it had an immediate effect which lasted about 3 weeks. That being said, remember that PD is a constellation of symptoms which may be due to wide variety of causes. One person's shortage of heme may not be necessary for another. The treatment changes the shape of the tiny organ which transports red blood cells and allows them to get into places which they might not ordinarily get into. Since my husband has terrible atherosclerosis, it probably helped for that reason.

It is not approved for PD but that doesn't mean it doesn't help...only that insurance will not cover it. Hospitals will not use their chambers as they are bound by the approval. Independents will use them for a variety of conditions but are expensive. We went to Perlmutter, the pioneer in this, and at the time paid $185. Probably more$$ now.

Interesting to read re race and breeding horses as they have big money invested in their horses. I spoke to the HO treatment center in Lexington Ky. and the stories are quite dramatic when horses get 'tied up' with polysaccharide myopathy and get relief from HO.

BTW The home chambers are not equivalent to the big commercial chambers which not only make O but use pressure. A lot of research for this comes from deep sea diving.

I did try twice, made me unwell.
