Magnesium is one of the minerals that the majority of people (at least here in US) are deficient in. Symptoms of "sub-clinical magnesium include muscle cramps. Sleep, constipation, and mood are a few things that are improved when you have sufficient magnesium. There are many ways to take it. If you tend towards constipation, the least expensive magnesium oxide might work beautifully. For people on a lot of meds, soaking in a tub or foot bath with 1-2 cups of Epsom salts allows the body to absorb just what it needs. A more expensive, newer form magnesium threonate crosses the brain blood barrier and seems to work well for short term memory and nervous system related issues. The gel is also good in applying to where it is needed but you might consider one of the other forms as well to address other magnesium deficiency symptoms. By the way, people who crave chocolate often are low in magnesium.
